Heli-Expo 2017: Virtual Hoist Simulator makes its debut

Priority 1 Air Rescue (P1AR) is demonstrating an operational model of its Virtual Hoist SAR simulator for the first time at Heli-Expo 2017.

Created specifically for the show to present its advanced mission training capabilities, the small, transportable version of the simulator is a replica of the synthetic devices that are currently employed at the company’s training academies in the US and France.

P1AR instructors will conduct live hoist and SAR mission demonstrations at the exhibition, showing realistic hoist cable physics. Compatible platforms include the Bell412/429, AW139/169/189, NH90 and H135/H225.

Numerous environments and weather conditions during day and night are possible, unaided and with NVGs.  Brad Matheson, president of P1AR, explained that the simulators are integrated into standardized training programs to optimize safety for the SAR community.

“We are not a simulator company selling simulators; we are an integrated training and operations provider offering a complete spectrum of mission performance solutions for end users,’ he said.

Primary considerations for P1AR in the design and development of solutions include safety, rescue mission variability and high cost savings for the customer.

Hoist training is incorporated into the RNLAF multi-year training contract, announced in February this year.
